November 4, 2008. History in the making

I am hoping that tonight is a history making evening to never forget.  I am aware not everyone feels the same way I do, and that is perfectly fine to me.  That is one of the wonderful things, one of many, about this country.  We have the right to believe in what is important to us.  If there is an issue that is pressing to you and you can vote on the outcome then please do.
Tonight is the night for all of us to make a difference.  As I always say, "Don't complain about the country or politics unless you have done your part by voting!"  I seriously say that to get some people to hush!
There is no excuse not to vote.  If you move you must update your address.  You can be an absentee voter, I am.  I must say it is so easy.  I get the ballot in the mail very early.  I don't vote and mail it right away.  I do some homework first.  Nowadays I have a tendency to vote 'no' on all local and state issues that will cost me money.  Sorry it's true.  I must balance my budget so should governments on all levels.
So tonight will be history for us all.  Tonight is a night to remember.  We will have a story to tell our kids and great grandkids.  No matter how we feel about our 'personnal politics' we must participate and care for our country.  For all of it's faults, we must support our country, for it is still the best country live in.  Our country is the place on Earth that everyone dreams of.  As Americans we take ALL of our freedoms for granted.
Americans need a good kick into reality.  There is never an end only beginnings, another page in history turns...  What will the future hold for us all...

Election Protection... You have the right to vote

Friday, October 24, 2008

The nonpartisan Election Protection coalition was formed to ensure that all voters have an equal opportunity to participate in the political process.

Through our state of the art hotlines: 1-866-OUR-VOTE (administered by the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights Under Law) and 1-888-Ve-Y-Vota (administered by the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials Education Fund), this website, and comprehensive voter protection field programs across the country, we provide Americans from coast to coast with comprehensive voter information and advice on how they can make sure their vote is counted.

Made up of more than 100 local, state and national partners, this year's coalition will be the largest voter protection and education effort in the nation's history.

Throughout the election process, our volunteers - more than 10,000 strong - will be entering data and information into OurVote live (developed by the Electronic Frontier Foundation), an interactive environment painting the most comprehensive picture of election irregularities from the perspective of the voter available anywhere. Unique in the excitement of this political season, Election Protection focuses on the voter - not on the political horse race - and provides guidance, information and help to any American, regardless of who that voter is casting a ballot for.
This site was made possible through generous donations including from the Women Donors Network.

Election Protection 2008 Primary Program

Election Protection - the nation's largest non-partisan voter protection coalition - organized earlier than ever before to prepare for 2008's historic elections.  The enthusiasm and excitement generated by this year's presidential primaries produced record turnout across the country. Inmates are Voting...are YOU!??

Wednesday, October 22, 2008

An inmate at the Marble Valley Regional Correctional Facility is taken through the voter registration process in Rutland, Vt., Thursday, Oct. 2, 2008. Many of the inmates had taken the equivalent of a civics course at the prison's high school where they learned that even though they were incarcerated, unlike every other state but Maine, they could vote.

Absentee Ballots Rock!!

The absentee ballot was just completed and sent out today. I feel good about voting. It is a right we all have and few take advantage of. Although this presidential debate may set some of you out to your polling place in a hurry.
We are on the verge of a recession. In some parts of the country, recession is already making an impact. Lay offs in the auto industry have hit some like a ton of bricks. The banks are crumbling. Foreclosures are at an all time high. Gas prices have been at the highest on record during this past year. The middle class is getting poorer. It has a cascading affect on use all...

Whatever you reason to vote is, just get out there and DO IT! By law, in all states, you can leave work to go vote. Of course you will not be paid for the time you have taken to vote, but you can come back and work your total hours you were scheduled. A law is a law for a reason.
Absentee ballots are an option. You can fill out an absentee ballot registration form from a post office, DMV, or just about any government office. There is a due date to mail in your absentee ballot by mail. But hey we are all human, let's say you forgot to mail it in. Just drop it by your local polling place! Piece of cake! So until then you are stuck making and taking the time to get to your polling place.
Make a difference! As I always say, "you have no business complaining about (fill in the blank with the a politician's name) unless you voted!" If someone hasn't voted and are complaining they need to shush! Make a difference....and reserve your right to bitch about Mr./Ms. so-and-so politician!!

Sarah Palin the Tina Fey look-a-like!!

Thursday, October 2, 2008

It's almost scary how much they look a like... Have you seen Tina's SNL skit yet? Scroll down... it's so sweet! Tonight was the Vice-Presidential debate. I will see in the morning who "won". I listened to a little bit on the radio on my commute home. I was surprised at how well Sarah sounded. It was night and day. She had composer, but at times she answered around the question. She was definitely coached by her home team.
As far as her media interviews are concerned, I wish she were coached before being thrown to the wolves. (Although I would hardly call Katie Couric a wolf) Needless to say I am still stumped as to why McCain choose her?
